Debate; jazz

1. Jazz is disappearing in our society, should jazz be defended or should be left to disappear?
A: I personally think that jazz is form of art that should be defended as well as loved. I know jazz is becomming more unpopular these days but if it can gain popularity as well as demanded, people will find interest and passion for jazz.

2. Why do you think jazz is disappearing amongst the teens?
A: Teenagers are influenced by fashion magazines, stars, and friends also. Now medias plays more of current music trends, such as rap and hiphop, and influence teenagers avoid jazz. Also media plays only little bit of jazz, jazz is unknown to many teenagers. Not only that it influence them to avoid other form of music, it force them to only listen to current music trend and teach them it is the 'right' thing to do.

3. If jazz is to be tought in school as an academic course, who would support?
A: Political jazz muscians who demand jazz music to teenagers would support this idea. THey not only support jazz music to teens and adults but also they also support political jazz movement.

  • In #2, remove the 2nd question and the 2nd sentence of the answer, and more completely connect the idea of "fashion magazines, stars, and friends" to the idea of disappearing jazz.

Once you're done, raise your hand so I can check your answer.
