How does the text do this?
Especially, since this novel is written in 1st person view, the things that are happened are described very realistic. Also, stories are continued as time goes on. I also could see the conflicts among characters.

Audience Analysis Sample
Celebrity gossip magazine about Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie perfectly influences its readers by its wording. Such as using words like 'golden couple', 'speculation' and 'lovebird'. Not only that the writer uses the exaggerated words but also peer evidences. Using quotations of people close Brad and Angleina makes the readers to pay attention little more. Also the writer contrasts with Brad's ex-wife Jennifer Aniston, how she is dating someone else. This way, people get more interested in seeing irnoic view of celebrity relationship.
Novel
In Novels, most of the writers are able to build up the story and make them interesting by twisting the plot or by bringing out the attitude of the character in the story. They also uses interesting vocabulary or even common ones but they are used in a way that is not normally used by people. Most novels also uses speeches that allows us to get the characteristic and behaviour of the characters in the story. Examples are that we are able to know that the wife in the story does not like Andrea as she uses harsh words such as snatch and interfering.
Factors such as creative vocabulary and interesting plot twist usually entertain the reader as they are able to get what the character is feeling. Some of the characters in the novel may also be alike in a way to a reader. This will give the readers better ideas of what they are like and give us a chance to change.
Comments on Newspaper Editorial - Lily
In a newspaper editorial, the emotions of the writter are really predominant, and generally they are shown by the use of personal pronouns like in the sentence: "from our perspective".
Also the editorials demonstrate the position the authour is on the subject, how s/he thinks about the topic takes a biased side over the topic in order to convey his emotion and make the audience understand his perspective. It is often that by the writter giving his own point of view some phylosophy can be expressed.
The writter in a newspaper editorial, needs to show his credibility by writting in a formal language and with complex words, e.g: "filibuster ", "grandiose ".
Biochemistry report
We could know that biochemstiry report use very specifi and technical information thorough this sentence: The secretion of prolactin (PRL) from pituitary lactotrophs of the rat is predominantly under inhibitory control exerted by dopamine (DA) of hypothalamic origin (1).
Biochemstiry report is emotionlessness because there are no 'I' ,'she', 'he', or 'they' words that can lead to include emotion in the writing.

EXPLORING THE GENRE: Topic Proposals
2. What kind of information is normally found in this genre?
It gives information about personal experience, brief background history of each aspect of topic, personal thoughts regarding the topic, arguements about the issues they are facing, and information on how writing on the topic relates to audiences and to future work with the topic.
6. What kind of vocabulary is used?
Most of the vocabularies are easy to understand; there are not too many big words. The level of vocabulary usage can be determined easily, it was not too complex. Some words are repeated but vocabulary usage varied each essays. If the topic has its own specialized vocabulary, some of that vocabulary should appear in the text.
10. Who might engage with the genre—that is, who is involved in producing writing in the genre, and who might be involved in reading/using writing in that genre?
Students who are focused on related majors, as well as professionals in those fields. Students and workers making proposals to their instructors or their bosses do the writing. Instructors and superiors at work would read topic proposals and make decisions relevant about the writer's future work.
Ebaad, Whajin, DJ, Woomin
EXPLORING THE GENRE: Topic Proposals
Genre is called topic proposal.
5. How long is the average paragraph?
The average paragraph is depending on writers. Since all the wirtings come from each individual styles, the length of the paragraphs are different. So average paragraph would be around 7 to 8 sentences long.
9. What person or persons are the main focus of the genre, within the text?
The essays try to express the authors' extraordinary personal experiences, thus the main focus of genre are the writers themselves and people who were a part of those experiences. Potential readers of the writer's future work on the topic are also an important focus.
Won, Hyuk, Rakpong, Fangjia
EXPLORING THE GENRE: Topic Proposals
7-9 paragraphs
8. How much of the content of this genre is based on observation? How much on “internal” thoughts about the matter? How much directly about goals of the genre, potential audiences, and future work on the topic?
Based on observation: 45-65%
Based on internal thoughts about the matter: 10-30%
Based on other things: 25%
Note: These are ROUGH estimates only!
12. What’s the nature of the relationship between writers and readers in this genre?
The writer is entitled to his/her own opinion but readers expect a critical stance toward those opinions on the part of the writer. The reader is almost always in a position of authority over the writer (boss/employee, instructor/student).
WonPyo, Muhammad, Jingjing
EXPLORING THE GENRE: Topic Proposals
The introduction introduces the writer's main objective: to propose a topic for study. The next paragraph/section discusses how the topic relates to the author and other people. Next, the proposal discusses how the topic relates to the author and the author's personal experiences. Finally, in the conclusion the author suggestions sub-topics or questions to write about in future papers.
7. What is the emotional content of this genre, and how is it expressed?
The emotional content of this genre is minimal, no more than 10% of the essay. Even though the topic is related to the author and s/he is likely to have had some emotional associations, the writer gives more attention to the events that generated the emotions than to the emotions themselves. The emotions can be expressed directly ("I felt angry") or indirectly ("That idiot didn't help me").
11. What are the goals of the people engaging in the genre—that is, what do the writers and readers want to get out of the genre, and what might they do with the new knowledge after reading?
The reader wants to know whether the topic is a good one for the writer to pursue, by seeing if the writer has a personal and unique relationship with the topic, if the topic is interesting and important, and whether the writer has a clear view of the topic in the context of future writing. S/he may also want to learn something about the topic, but that is secondary. The writer is looking for approval of her/his topic, and possibly to know more about their own topic.

Revised semester topic
My new semester topic is about the my concerns that I want future president to think of.
And, I hope anyone who is interested in politics in Korea want to read my article.
Thanks!
My writing process
Choosing a topic is really important in writing a piece of work. In order to choose a good topic, I must really think of who my readers are. If the readers are middle-age people, they probably be interested in the world or society. If I write things about teenage stuff such as hiphop music, they won't probably feel interested in the work. The second step is the preperation. This step for me is the most important step because this step controls how good your paper would come out. Brainstorming is one option that I use for planning my work. I write down all the ideas and group them together and start to plan how I would use those information in my paper. The final step, I'll write out the paper with my plan accordingly. I'll start with the body first and then follow by the introduction and conclusion. And the very last thing I do is to check for grammar error and spelling.

My writing process
After doing this, I will do what everyone familiar, brainstorm. Just think what ever that hit your mind about the topic. The more you think the more material you can use in your write.
Now comes the most important part, making an outline. It does not need to be very long, one sentence represents every paragraph is enough, but it's essential. You can see what you article will be from your outline even before the article is finished. It happened to me before I had the habit to write outline that during my writing, I suddenly forgot what I going to write in the following part. Then I could do nothing but continue my writing in a different way. This made my article far from what I expected before writing, thus I didn't not express the idea I wanted to tell completely. So, having an outline before writing is pretty necessary.
Only after having an outline will I begin writing the article itself. It is somewhat just like retelling your outline in more words. Because I have outline, I know what I going to write, so I will pay more attention to the precision of words and fluency of the sentences.
After writing, I will have a check to see if the article really expressed what I want to say in the whole and whether there is any grammar mistakes. Then, I can tell that it's down.

Semester Topic
I think this in an interesting and important topic mostly for people who is directly connected with employment in El Salvador, either employees, employers, investors or politicians that could be benefit or damage with the free trade agreements that have been being implemented within the past 10 years.
I personally have experience on the topic, because I grew up in El Salvador, and my family has a clothes factory that is being greatly affected because of the free trade. However, I must say that there are some advantages and disadvantages, which I would like to compare and talk in my writing
semester topic
RELATION TO THE TOPIC: I chose this topic for this semester’s English composition course because this is an area that I really want to explore more. American higher education is famous for its high standard and is the representative of western education system. Chinese higher education, on the other hand, represents the eastern system. I will write four essays to explore the difference in one aspect of these two educational systems, application process, in depths. On the othe hand, I myself have experience both the process. I had my first two years’ college education in China and then applied to transfer to Purdue. So comparing others who just go to college in either China or America, I think I have more to say.
WHO WILL BE INTERESTED IN MY TOPIC: Nowadays, many college students in China began to think if the Chinese higher education is working well. The application system is one of the areas they think about most. In these years, many people began to discuss whether the current application process is the best choice. I hope my essays will help they get to know about how is the application process in other educational system and what they can learn from it to improve the Chinese higher educational system. For Americans, I think my topic might also be helpful, because education is an area where you can see the difference between the western and eastern philosophy. Chinese education system indicates the eastern Confucian philosophy, which emphasis more on education than western world, so in China, grade is everything in application, and the better the school you go, maybe the cheaper you pay and more fellowship you’ll get because people believe that you will be a great person and contribute more than others.
Semester Topic
Audience: This would attract any exchange student that use to live to the city instead of a small town and also people that are planning on moving to the US.
Semester Topic
Relation to the topic: I am a New York state resident, even though I've never attended school in New York state but my brother and cousins are currently attending public schools in New York. United States's education system differs alot by states. Each states have their own system of edcation to better suit the state residents. Because what public schools require is different by states, it is very complicated to transfer from one state to another even in high school. For my self, I've experienced the difference between NewYork's system and Indiana's system. I though I could easily be considered as in-state student after one year of attenting Purdue because I knew that New York does allow students to change their status after one year of living in New York if possible to prove it. I belive many people are not aware of these differences between states.
Who will be interest in my topic?: I think basically any students or their parents who is concerned about their education would be interested in this topic. Any students who needs to change their school into different state or concerned about their status in out of state college would be more willing to read the papers that I'll be writing
Semester Topic
Relation to Topic: Every Indonesian will know and remember the date May 13. By May 13, I don't mean the ones that you can find in wikipedia, such as the births and history, etc. The exact date will be 13th of May 1998. Some of us Indonesians may not have experienced it directly, but we heard stories and news from our relatives. I myself got affected indirectly by the incident.
Who will be interested in my topic: Historians probably? People who wanted to know about why many Indonesian Chinese are now spread throughout the world. Others who wants to know the history of Indonesia and those who want to know more about Indonesia and what is going on there.
Edit:
More Info: On 12th of May 1998, a student was shot dead. the next day after the student was burried, a demonstartion occured that turned into a horrible riot. The riot lasted for months and left irrepairable damages to the economy, government and many other factors. We Indonesian calls it the May 13 incident. However, it seems that what happened during May 13 was not quite an incident but a possible plot by the government to kick out the chinese from Indonesia. During that time, Most of the economy is controlled by the Chinese and many Indonesian was unhappy. Now, when you go to Singapore or even China, you may find a lot of Indonesian Chinese there. They migrated there due to this.
Even More Info: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indonesian_Revolution_of_1998

Who else will be interested: Investors, Economist and Business Man. Invertors wants to know how the country is doing before they will want to invest in a country. This will mean that they would research on what happens so far and wether the country will be a safe investment. The same with business man, but they would probably also include wether the country is safe enough. Economist will want to know why Indonesia's Economy suddenly became bad. Future Generations many future generation would probably want to know why their grandparents escaped from Indonesia.
my writing process
Probably all of us in this room were taught to do brainstorming before writing some type of essays, reports, and etc. At least, I know I was. Even though I was taught that way, I'm not used to start writing from brainstorming. It just takes me more time to start wrting. So instead, I do outlines, but somehow I skip this step very often also and go straight into writing out actual paper even though I know that I write better with outlines.
As I start writing, I begin facing my biggest problem of writing, the thesis statement. Introduction part always has been the most problem to me. I would always get stuck at the introduction and spend probably the most time writing along with my second problem, the conclusion. Body part was not a problem to write if I knew what I had to write about and had right information. Introduction and the conclusion was the bomb through out my writing process.
Lack of variety in using vocabularies is another problem I have when writing. As I write my papers, I have to go back and find some words on Korean-English dictionary since I think in korean as I write and sometimes the words in my mind wouldn't come out directly in English. To give some variety in vocabularies to my writing dictionary and thesarus are the must have for me.
If I get stuck in the middle of it and don't know what to write anymore, I start reading off from the beginning and think about what the next sentence should say. I also make some corrections as I read it out. The next one that I found it difficult to do was keeping the tense consistent. I would always go back and forth on present and past tense. Most of my English teacher had comments on that inconsistency. And it was very difficult to fix and probably I'm doing it now too!
Semester Topic
Topic: The trend of classical music
Relation to the topic: I have played Electone which is a kind of instrument related to organ for 12 years. Most of the compositions I played are adapted from classical music. Though many people say classical music is too complicated for people at my age to understand, I am still a big fan of it. With the prosperousness of new music, the conflict between classical and new music is growing. The industry of classical music has been declining all these years. The audience is shrinking, and some people even think classical music is going to die. As a fan of classical music, I am deep interested in the trend of classical music.
Who will be interest in my topic?: classical music fans, musicians, professors of Music department, CD producers in the industry of classical music

A primary goal of going to school is same, however, how they learn and what they learn are very different. And those factors determine where students spend their time at other than studying, and even make student's whole life style. I have many things to talk about this topic, and that is why I chose this as a semester topic.
Who will be interest in my topic?: People who who have never gone to high school in different country other than the U.S.
My Writing Process
After making an outline, placing the ideas and thoughts in a nice order is next. I learned from middle school and high school that there are three stages in most papers, which are introduction, body, and conclusion.
For introduction,I usually state brirefly what I am going to talk about and overall topic. And the body paragraph is where my thoughts and whole ideas are stated in detail. In conclusion, I sum up what I state in body paragraphs and finish up with a clincher.

My writing process
First step is choosing topic. I think this is the hardest step in whole writing process.
If I can’t think anything about topic, I do brain-storming because it helps me to narrow down thoughts. When I ready to choose topic, I consider whether the topic is reasonable or not.
Second step is rough draft. Thoughts from first step need to be briefly expressed through writing in this step. Writing down thoughts is more important than grammar or structure of writing because correct content of writing is the most important in writing process.
Third step is second draft. This step also called by final draft. The writing should be completed in this step. Not only content but also grammar and structure of writing need to be checked carefully.
Final step is examination of writing. Even though previous steps are followed correctly, there could be mistakes on the writing, and examination should perform objectively. After writer examines the writing by self, the writing should be examined by outsider who has ability to examine any writing objectively.
My writing process
To start with I do not actually enjoy writing. But writing could be fun at times especially when you taking to friends on the internet. Most of the writing I've done was at high school. My writing process includes formal and informal writing. Whenever writing an essay or report I always brain storm first and make outlines on how to link up my points and ideas. My Formal writing includes essays, letters and report writing and my informal writing is when I am talking to my friends on the internet combining Urdu and English words. When I do have ample time I like to make a rough draft first so that I have an idea what my writing sounds or looks like.Usually what I do is that I break my writing in to at least three parts, the starting, body and conclusion.

Process of my writing
Process of Writing
Describe Your writting
Every time I write a paper either a school paper or a friends letter I try to
pick a title for the writing, since it will make me focus on what I want to say
on my writing.
All the time at school they told us to create an Organizing principle, which
shortly describes what your writing it's going to be about, and continuously
keep on referring to that organizing principle so that you don't move away from
the main purpose of your writing. This is really useful when answering essays
questions, because usually what happens is that you tend to move from topic and
don't answer the question.
Moreover, I also tend to make a brainstorm of all the ideas I want to include in
my writing, that way I can remember everything I want to include and also
carefully plan the sequence every idea it should be written in.
In school they also taught me to write in paragraphs, and separate them by the
different ideas you present on the writing, this helps the reader to understand
more what you are saying and also to encourage him to read your paper, since
most commonly when you look a single big paragraph of writing you are
discourage to read it.
The writing skills for different audience is also important, I constantly
change my writing style depend for who its directed to. For the reason that a
children won't easily understand a letter if it's writing in very complex
words. However, an employer won't be impress with a letter that is written in a
very simplistic style. Therefore, I tend to change my style depending on the
audience.
In general my writing is based on what I would like to read, and makes it easy
to understand.
Process of Writing
So when i write an essay for a school assignment, I would start off by generating a thesis that is related to the topic. My thesis would contain the topic I am writing about and its supporting ideas. Usually my thesis is one sentence.
After my thesis is written, I would try to write a very short introduction because I personally think the intro to a paper is the hardest part to write about. Since I have my thesis I would start by writing my supporting paragraphs. My supporting ideas will be backed by evidence, which I think is pretty easy for me to write about.
After all of my supporting paragraphs are done, i would write the conclusion, which is just a paragrph where i sum up what i am trying to say and where i rephrase my thesis again. AFter all of this is done, i would go back to my intro and try to find something catchy or intersting to put into it. Then finally i would go back and edit my whole paper, usually during this process, there will be a lot of deleting, adding, and rephrasing because i am not satisfied with a lot of what i wrote.
Description Of My Writing Process
I mainly write Narrative essay and ususally get okay marks for it while my argumentative esssay is kinda... I know I am probably not suppose to say it, but, it generally suck. Argumentative is my weakest section in essay writing and i avoid it as best as i could.
I usually write my essays straight from the brain to my hands and I just write and the story develops inside me. Many teachers encourage students to brainstorm for ideas, outline the plot, etc to make the story interesting and the climax to be at the appropriate time. However, i think that that is not very correct. My style of writing is to follow the story and develop it as you write. This allows me to at some point of time to twist the plot and get an unexpected ending which cannot be done if you had outline the whole story before hand.
The problem i have with this style is that sometime i may ran out of idea before the story ends or half way through the story, I realize that the ending will be so unrealistic that my essay would be fit only for kids to read and is most likely unacceptable to the teachers or other adult who will grade it.
Another problem is that sometime I write a little too much... ok sometime more that a little. There was once where if i had continued my writing, it will sum up to be more than a thousand when the number of words allowed was 350-550 words. From what i heard from my teacher, this is very dangerous as most of the markers in Cambridge University, they tend to dislike very long essays and either they pinnalize you or worse, when your essay reaches that word limit, they will just cross out the rest of the essay and not even take a look at it. The problem with this is that the part that they canceled out may have been the climax to the narrative or the most important argument in an argumentative.
My style of writing have lots of problem that comes with it, other than the grammar mistakes that i will make, I generally gets exicted as the story develops and my hand writing becomes more and more messy and unreadable. I got scolded by my teacher most of the time as they were unable to read my handwriting.
No matter what, I think that I will still use my style of writing as I feel that a writer should pour their heart and soul into their writing. Only by this way, a writer would really be satisfied that the story that they ended with truly comes from the heart, his heart. The other possible styles, sometime limits your writing and causes the story line to sometime end early or just don't connect with the whole plot.
Processes in writing
While writing a essay i follow different steps .They are
1)Think and visualize the topic.
2)Write down the important points.
3)After that i go throught my points and find whetheer any point is missing or not.
4)Then using the basic idea and points i expand on my essay.
5)When the main body is completed,Its the time for the introduction and the conclusion.
An introduction and conclusion are very important for a good essay
6)I spend lot of time and do lot of research for a good introductory and the conclusion line
7)When i finish my essay i check for spelling and gramatical errrors
8)And finally the essay in done
